How to Install our RMM
Overview
This guide walks you through installing the ServerNova remote management (RMM) agent on your computer. The agent lets our technicians monitor your device's health, push security updates, and provide remote support when you need help. Installation takes about two minutes.
You'll need the installer link provided by our technicians before starting. If you haven't received one, contact ServerNova support and we'll send it over.
Before you begin
Use the computer you want us to manage. The link installs the agent on whichever machine you open it from.
Close the installer email on other devices. Don't forward the link, it's intended for your organization only.
Have a few minutes free. You can keep working during the install, but you'll need to click through one prompt.
Installation steps
Download the installer. Open the link from our technicians and save the file when your browser prompts you. It will usually land in your Downloads folder.
Run the installer. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation.
Approve the security prompt. Windows will display a User Account Control (UAC) prompt asking if you want to allow the app to make changes. Click Yes.
You're done. The agent installs silently in the background, you won't see any further prompts, windows, or messages. This is normal and means the installation is proceeding correctly.
No news is good news. The agent is designed to be invisible so it never interrupts your work. Once installed, our technicians can confirm your device has checked in on our end — no restart required.
If the UAC prompt asks for a username and password
If the security prompt asks you to enter credentials instead of just clicking Yes, it means your Windows account doesn't have administrator permissions on this computer. You have two options:
Know the admin login? Enter the administrator username and password into the prompt to authorize the install.
Not sure? Contact ServerNova support, we'll help locate the admin account for your device or complete the installation remotely with you.
Never enter administrator credentials that were given to you by anyone other than your organization or ServerNova. If you receive an unexpected installer link you weren't told to expect, don't run it — check with us first.
Troubleshooting
Issue | What to do |

Antivirus flags or quarantines the file | Contact us before overriding anything, we'll verify the file and whitelist it properly |
Nothing seems to happen after clicking Yes | That's expected, the install runs silently. Give it a few minutes, then let us know and we'll confirm the device checked in |
You clicked No on the UAC prompt by mistake | Just double-click the installer file again and click Yes this time |
